British Columbia has experienced record wildfire seasons in 2017, 2018, 2021, and 2023. Standing seam metal panels carry a Class A fire rating — the highest possible under ASTM E108 / UL 790. Standing seam metal is the number one recommended roofing material for rainwater collection. The smooth, non-porous surface achieves approximately 95% runoff efficiency compared to roughly 75% for asphalt shingles. There is no granule shedding, no chemical leaching, and the raised seams keep water channels clean while shedding leaves and debris naturally.

BC allows rainwater harvesting for non-potable use (irrigation, toilet flushing) without permits in most municipalities. For potable use, the BC Drinking Water Protection Act guidelines apply. Gulf Islands and rural BC areas commonly use rainwater as their primary water source.

SOUND DEFLECTION &
ACOUSTIC INSULATION
A double-sided standing seam fence creates a natural acoustic barrier. The two metal skins separated by the air gap between battens act as a mass-air-mass system — the same principle used in professional soundproofing. Sound waves hitting the outer panel are partially reflected, and the energy that passes through is further attenuated by the air cavity before reaching the inner panel.
This makes double-sided metal fencing particularly effective along busy roads, near commercial properties, or between neighbouring yards where privacy and quiet are valued. The solid, gapless construction blocks both direct sound transmission and line-of-sight noise paths that wood fences with gaps cannot address.
How it works
